Ep 246: Listening Party for “P. is for Pain Points”
April 7, 2022 from Fare of the Free Child
This week on #fofcpod we’re serving insightful thoughts, feedback, and resources based on our current PAUSEwerk flow. The letter of the week is P, for Pain Points: What’s the matter? What took you here? What things feel like pain, discomfort, uncertainty? What is coming up for you and for the people that you’re closest to right now? This episode is our first Listening Party, the space where we focus on your feedback about an aspect of pausing, as well as our own insights and struggles.
Open and Queerious with Ellie Winicour, Episode 324
April 7, 2022 from Living Joyfully with Unschooling
This week on the podcast, I have a wonderful conversation with Ellie Winicour! Ellie, her wife Jodi, and 8-year-old Celia have always unschooled, following Celia's interests and flow. Ellie shares some of her experience embracing pretend play and the deep connection that comes from stepping away from the mainstream adult-child power dynamic. She also shares how she has intentionally created an inclusive environment for Celia and some ideas to help other families do the same. We talk about finding community that supports us and our families and how that can change from season to season.
How to Turn Cooking into Unschool Maths Homeschool Records Notes
April 6, 2022 from Stories of an Unschooling Family
When you hear the words ‘real life maths’ or ‘real world maths’ what do you think of? Cooking? That’s the usual example, isn’t it? “My kids did lots of real life maths today. They cooked a cake for morning tea.” When my children were younger, they often made cakes and biscuits and even whole meals. And each time, I’d jot down some notes in our homeschool records notebook and label them as ‘maths.’

April 5, 2022 from Honey! I’m Homeschooling the Kids
Julie Bogart is a mother to 5 adult children that she homeschooled full time for 17 years. She is a writer and owner of Brave Writer, a company she started in January of 2000 with the hope to be able to raise children who see writing as a tool of self expression, not merely a subject to pass to get into college.
Julie joined me in my Club, Honey! I'm Homeschooling to talk about her book, Raising Critical Thinkers.

That Word, Unschooling
April 4, 2022 on Unschooling Mom2Mom
That Word, Unschooling, bothers a lot of people! Here's the thing... you don't have to use it! But I want to invite you to think about what the problem is. Truthfully, I had some issues with it initially. And even more with some of the alternatives that others have put forward. I'll share them with you, with a few thoughts on some of them. You can tell me in the comments if you agree or disagree. It's all ok!
