It’s hitting peak summer weather here in Southern California, which, for many families, means trekking to the coast. It evokes romantic images of families frolicking in the sun, sand, and waves; of children happily laughing and playing. But for me, going to the beach with my children often triggers the tiger parent in me!

Here it is: “.. the opposite of dispossession is not possession, it is deep, reciprocal, consensual attachment. Indigenous bodies don’t relate to the land by possessing or owning it or having control over it. We relate to the land through connection - generative, affirmative, complex, overlapping, and nonlinear relationship.”
